This committee has broad oversight over legislation involving public power, Public Power Districts, the Power Review Board, utilities including electric co-ops, oil and gas, the state Energy Office, the Ethanol Authority and Development Act, and petroleum products. Other areas of oversight include ground and surface water rights, the Department of Natural Resources, the Natural Resources Commission, environment, hazardous waste, underground storage, combustibles, recycling, the Department of Environmental Quality, fish and game, and parks and recreation areas.
The Transportation and Telecommunications Committee is responsible for processing legislation involving motor vehicles, highways, railroads, common carriers (including pipelines, public service commission), and aeronautics
