Commissioner Prequalifications

There are statutory qualifications to becoming a commissioner, as follows: Ind. Code _ 8-1-1-2 "(a) . . . at least one . . . shall be an attorney qualified to practice law before the supreme court of Indiana . . ."; "(f) A member of the commission or any person appointed to any position or employed in any capacity to serve the commission, may not have any official or professional relationship or connection with, or hold any stock or securities or have any pecuniary interest in any public utility operating in Indiana." . . .; Ind. Code _ 8-1-1-3 "(f) Each member of the commission shall give bond in the sum of ten thousand dollars ($10,000) for the faithful performance of his duties. Such bond shall be filed with the secretary of state. "
